Out in THE OPEN

I finally hit the airwaves with The Open show and I am so stoked to have so much support from so many people. I spent the day yesterday making turns at Elk Mountain with my new assistant, Nick Lange, who rocked the camera while I rocked the speed rockers off my new K2 Burnin Luvs. Thanks to the gracious dedication of Gregg Confer, who trusted me and gave me the opportunity to showcase his incredible Elk Mountain as my home base for every show this winter, I am able to share some great skiing and so much more every Sunday on WYOU.

And speaking of great skiing, it can certainly be had at Elk. The snow crew up there made so much snow these past few weeks, and churned, turned and buffed it to a delightful carpet of white so perfect that it blew the socks off the brave early season skiers and riders who showed up for THE OPEN, and will continue to do so. The little rain that fell today will only tighten the solid base, and with the expected lake effect snow this week and super cold temps, Elk will only improve as the holiday approaches. Children beware - if Santa flies over Elk with his skiboots on, you might not see your toys til spring.

Next week we'll take a look at Ski Magazine's ratings for East Coast resorts, and investigate why skiers picked Elk in the top ten for both snow and grooming, the only resort in Pennsylvania to make those lists.

So get out your boards and GET OUT IN THE OPEN!!!!
